Transportation To Camp

It is important for a smooth start to camp that you arrive the day prior to the start date stated in your contract. A separate Staff Travel Form should be completed (it can also be accessed in your myManitou account).

You have a few options regarding transportation to camp:

a. Personal Car. You are welcome to drive to camp. If you do, please arrive the day before your contract start date. There is a staff parking lot where you will park your vehicle for the summer.

b. Bus. Greyhound offers bus service throughout the country. If traveling by bus, you should arrive in Waterville, ME on or before your contract arrival date. A Camp Manitou staff member will meet you and bring you to camp (about 10 minutes from the bus terminal). Log onto www.greyhound.com for information on bus transportation. Please contact the camp if your bus schedule changes from what you submit in your travel form or if there are any delays.

c. Airplane. Please read below for details on traveling by plane to camp: If you are flying to camp for Camp Manitou’s staff orientation beginning June 12th (recommended arrival on June 11th):

– For those arriving into Logan Airport (Boston, MA) on the 11th, a Camp Manitou staff member will meet and transport you to camp. There will be camp shuttles departing from the airport at noon, 3PM, 5PM and 7PM to transport you to camp.  Please be sure your flight does not arrive after 6:00 PM.

– There will also be camp transportation from Logan Airport on Saturday June 3rd – for those coming in early for staff training.

– For those arriving into the Portland, ME airport, please email us your flight details so we can arrange for a Camp Manitou staff member to pick you up. The trip from the Portland, ME airport to camp is about 1 hour and 30 minutes. If you are flying to camp for training prior to the beginning of Camp Manitou’s staff orientation: You will take a bus up to Waterville, ME and we will pick you up at the bus terminal or send us your flight details for arrival in Portland.

– Activity areas that require early training: Ropes, Archery, Swimming, Waterskiing, Sailing, and Kayaking.
