Where Have I Been Since Last Summer?

One of my favorite parts of camp is being able to meet so many people from all around the world. Over the years, I have been able to meet some of my best friends here, and have been able to learn a lot about the places they live.
Being an avid traveler myself, I’ve been able to utilize my Manitou connections around the world. I spent seven months working and living in New Zealand in 2016, and I would not have survived that long had it not been for Manitou friends letting me crash at their place until I got on my feet.
After camp ended last summer, I headed to Mexico and backpacked my way through Central America and Colombia for five months. This part of the world was never high on my bucket list until hearing my Manitou friends raving about it all summer and I was even able to convince my former co-counselor to come out and travel with me for two weeks in Nicaragua. I was fortunate enough to also head to Nepal this spring, with recommendations on places to see and do from Manitou folks who had been there before.
Camp is amazing in so many ways. It provides opportunities for you that you would not normally have working somewhere else, and exposes you to so many different people and ways of life. I’m grateful for the opportunities that Manitou has created for me and am excited for you all to experience the same. Have fun, get excited, and I’ll see you all soon!
